Dr. Mohammad Ghonaim
Graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Cairo in 1961.
He had his Basic General Surgery and Urology training at the Cairo University Hospitals. To gain further experience, he spent 4 years in England, America, and Canada.
Following his return to Egypt, he was appointed as a Lecturer in Urology at The University of Mansoura.
His main areas of interest are Renal Transplantation, Urologic Oncology, and Bladder Replacement by Small Intestines, and he is recognized as a World Leader in Kidney Transplants.
To his credit, he has more than 300 publications in International Journals. He was awarded an Honorary M.D. Degree from the University of Gutenberg, Sweden, is an honorary member of many Urological Associations, including the International Society of Urology and British and American Urology Associations, and was an invited visiting Professor to many Urological Departments across Europe and America.
He is an Emeritus Professor at The University of Mansoura involved in basic research attempting to differentiate Mesenchymal Stem Cells into Insulin-Producing Cells.

During his tenure at UMass, he founded and directed the Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation Programs and served the multidisciplinary Tumor Board.
During his tenure at AUBMC (1996-present), he headed the Division of Urology and Renal Transplantation (1996-2016), introduced Laparoscopic Urologic Surgery by performing the First Laparoscopic Donor Nephrectomy in the Middle East in 2000, and in 2013 the division introduced Robotic Urologic Oncology In 2012, he was named as Chairman of the Arab Board of Urology Exam.
In 2017 he founded and directed the Middle East Prostate Cancer Consortium (MEPCC) and was nominated to the Expert Panel board of the Advanced Prostate Cancer Consensus Conference (APCCC), St. Gallen, Switzerland (2016-2025).
He is a member of the Executive Board, AdMeTech Foundation/Global Summitt in Prostate Cancer (2022-present).
